The feature freeze is February 20th:

So that means in an idea world, there'd be a stable CouchDB 1.6 release at least a week before that. I haven't had time to keep up with the 1.6 plans, but it also depends a bit on how major the changes are in 1.6.

BTW, I have a 1.5 package I've been testing in the Novacut daily PPA, if anyone wants to give it a spin:
