Comment 5 for bug 12693

Here's an update to this bug:
The applet in the panel is now "syncing" somewhat with the mapped multimedia keys...the applet shows
muted status when I press the assigned "mute" button on my keyboard. However, the mute button
continues to mute improperly by setting the volume all the way to minimum-instead of just muting
it "in place" at its current level. This seems tied directly to bug#9399. To see this issue, press a
user-assigned multimedia key for mute, then wait for over 5 seconds and press it again to try to
unmute it. On my AMD64 laptop, the sound is forced all the way to minimum (instead of muting). This
occurs if I wait for more than a few seconds to press it.
