Your guess may be wild, but it does hit the mark. I am using Autoselect
(I don't know how to see what the autoselect function ends up selecting).
When I change the setting to use ALSA explicitly, the crashing bug is bac=
k
with a vengeance.

(The setting is KDE Control Center/Sound & Multimedia/Sound System/
Hardware.)
