Same happens to me.
I'm using Kubuntu an a T30 Laptop. With Feisty all ran fine. During Upgrade to Gutsy I had extreme problems with acpid (this Site describes the prob: http://ubuntuforums.org/howthread.php?t=288724 ).
Since I solved the problems with acpid, I have the same problems like iboware.
