I am not at that particular workstation at this time but here is the
overview:
I installed Ubantu to my second hard drive. Smooth install - no errors
or problems. So I wanted to setup a printer and thought I'd do it the
same as I did with the KNOPPIX liveCD.

HP5Si printer with JetDirect ethernet card (192.168.1.110)
I added a printer to CUPs
Selected a Network Printer using address 192.168.1.110
completed the install with no problems. Printing a test page results in
an error at the printer - "A4" not available - press printer button to
select "Letter" and job completes. I returned to the Ubontu Printer
Manager and selected the HP5Si printer properties - paper size - changed
to "Letter" and tried print a test page - remains and error at the
printer identified as requesting "A4". Power-cycled JP5Si printer.
Changed Print Manager properties for HP5Si to paper size "legal" and
tried to print a test page - same error at printer "A4" no available.

It appears that the user is unable to change the paper size. "A4" is
set as the default and does not permit the user to change the paper size.

I noticed in GRUB menu.lst that the Ubuntu file system is started "RO"
while other Linux systems are "RW" ? GRUB was auto configured by Ubuntu
during the install. Could this "READ ONLY" be the base problem?
