After putting some thought into this and considering where it's currently at, I've decided that it is not ideally suited for inclusion in the theme itself. I would rather see that built as it's own module. This will avoid making the theme ugly as well as provide a pretty means for including a images.
If you'd like to discuss doing this as a module, please meet me on IRC and we'll get it worked out.
