So, I go ahead and apply the patch from @mvo (+another patch) into Impish, Focal and Bionic systemd packaging repo, and propose merges to them (see related branches in the bug). Note that the patch for Bionic is slightly different, but the principle is the same.
The description will be updated with Impish feature freeze (sort of) exception request and the SRU message.
