I like Huw's suggestion in comment #2 but agree with Raumkraut in comment #1 that we should ditch the help pop-up. I've filed bug 709381 to suggest we replace the pop-up with a message on the staging home page. Even without a fix for bug 709381, I think we can remove the pop-up link and the help pop-up file itself.
We could make the text even more compelling by cutting some words:
"Learn more about Launchpad in the [[user guide]] or try it for yourself in our [[sandbox environment]]."
As you may have guessed from my suggestion, I'm a little uncomfortable with "play around". Am I being too conservative in suggesting it devalues Launchpad? If you think I'm being too fussy, go ahead with "...user guide]] or play around in our [[sand..."
