I am not quite sure what is being asked for.

Is it the case that using the 'Opt' key under X11 does not
work in the way that the 'Alt' key does on other platforms?

If so, is this X11's bug? or Apple's bug?

If so, do we need a workaround?

Is it being asserted that there is such a workaround in Open
Office, and if so, should the same be applied to Inkscape.

Personally, I would prefer a less fragile solution.
