I can confirm that the current -proposed version fixes the issue on Yakkety and Xenial series.

After enabling proposed on Xenial and Yakkety, and running through the steps to reproduce,
the exception is not being triggered, as can be seen here: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/24375842/
