Thanks Max, you nailed the difference in 3 lines and I agree 100%.

Is the new behaviour of "bzr update -r" like what Max and I describe?

I definitely think the documentation should clarify some of these issues, particularly what happens with "bzr revno" and "bzr status -V" after one does a revert, versus an update.
