Bug Description

I see the word "artefact" used in the descriptions of InformationType. eg:
Only users with permission to see the project's artifacts containing private information can see this information.

What is an artefact? How do I create one? How is it relevant to the bug I am looking at? I understand that we do not want to make this description specific to bugs and branches, but the term is not sensible English. "Artefact" is a fine term for Lp engineers to use when discussing models. Maybe
Only users with permission to see the project's private information can see this.

Embargoed security is also awkward

The reason this text:

" Only users with permission to see the project's artifacts containing private information can see this information"

appears somewhat clunky is that it should have read:

" Only users with permission to see the project's artifacts containing user data can see this information"

but we are currently hiding the term "User Data" until we fully communicate the terminology change.

Do we have a date for communication of the change?

Hi Dan.

We want beta testers to see Information Type this week (today actually). We wont let this issue block testing. Both Ian and I have proposed text that neither of us are satisfied with. I made the last proposal and we think ending a sentence with a preposition is bad. These are the variations we have proposed.

  A. Visible only to users with permission to see the project's embargoed security information
  B. Visible only to users the project shares all embargoed security information with.
  C. People who the project shares all embargoed security information with can see this.
  D. This is visible to people that the project shares all embargoed security information with

We want a proper sentence that we can also show in the privacy banner and privacy portlet. For example, the privacy banner might say:
Private: This is only visible to people the project shares all embargoed security information with.

How about a variation on A:

'You'll only be able to see this if you have permission to see the project's embargoed security information'

(When the message is outward facing to a user)

or

'Users will only be able to see this if they have permission to see the project's embargoed security information'

(When the message is for someone changing settings for their project)

Hi Dan

Thanks for the suggestions. Ideally we want a single piece of text that can be used for both the use cases you highlight since the text comes from the description of each enumerated type value (EMBARGOEDSECURITY, USERDATA, PROPRIETARY).

My vote goes to:

"Visible only to users with whom the project has shared embargoed security information."
"Visible only to users with whom the project has shared information containing user data."
"Visible only to users with whom the project has shared proprietary information."

since it incorporates the word "share" which suggests and therefore reinforces the action taken to expose the information.
