gnome-shell GTG indicator does not have an icon

I am not sure if I understand your problem. Is it that GTG indicator is "hidden" in GTG message tray and it is hard to access? If it is correct, it is by design of GNOME Shell. When GTG is launched, the indicator is not visible. Not sure if it is hidden by GNOME because I can still see the Tomboy indicator and others.

It is still there but only visible if I mouse over the indicator.

It looks like a different kind of problem. Do you have enabled notification area plugin? What kind of distribution do you use? How did you installed GTG? Using daily PPA or through python setup.py install?

Yes, I have the notification area plugin enabled. I use Ubuntu 12.04, if
that is what you are asking. I installed GTG from the trunk using python
setup.py install. If there is anything else you would like to know, I'm
glad to clarify.
