update-manager makes some modifications to your sources.list file during the upgrade process. could you please include the log files in /var/log/dist-upgrade to your bug report along with /etc/apt/sources.lit? Thanks in advance.

I get a helpfully cryptic 'An error occurred when adding files to the archive' from nautilus' 'compress' but it looks like everything is there.

The issue here is actually the file prerequists-sources.list in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/

To be clear the message is just a warning:

update-manager creates this /etc/apt/sources.list.d/prerequists-sources.list file on upgrade from lucid to precise in order to pull in a fixed apt; it needs to remove it again after upgrade.

  * debian/control:
    - Restore gksu dependency, needed by e.g. check-new-release-gtk

  * DistUpgrade/DistUpgrade.cfg.lucid:
