The file /etc/xdg/xdg-ubuntustudio/menus/ubuntustudio.menu must be named xfce-applications.menu to work or must be a link to ubuntustudio.menu.

menu file name needs to be changed back to 'xfce-applications.menu', which has been done already and can be found in:
https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntustudio-dev/ubuntustudio-default-settings/UbuntuStudio
