Bug Description

Pressing the escape key on the lightdm greeter screen with an up to date ubuntu precise results in the xserver restarting.

I assume, this is not intended behavior.

I'm only able to reproduce this bug with
"greeter-hide-users=true" set in lighdm.conf

Alex, can you upload your /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf file? I can't reproduce, even after setting "greeter-hide-users=true".

Here's my config.

I can still reproduce this with all current updates installed.

OK, I can reproduce with your config. Another clue/symptom is that the text "Login" doesn't appear above the password prompt.

This bug has not been fixed properly (as of 0.2.7-0ubuntu2). Although the X server doesn't restart, pressing the escape key is zombie-fying/restarting the lightdm process. I've attached a process list showing the zombies (1 for each 'ESC' keypress!).

peter@thor:~$ dpkg -l unity-greeter
....
ii unity-greeter 0.2.7-0ubuntu2 Unity Greeter
