Indicator transparency not consistent with background transparency

I can confirm this bug on Precise with GTK 3.3.8

This has been affecting a lot of people in IRC lately, on both Oneiric and Precise.

I think it is fixed now, could you check? (and please post your ubuntu version too)

It seems that this problem only happens on oneiric, and, if we solve it,
there will be a problem on precise. So, I don't know what we can do,
because we can't have this fixed in both precise and oneiric.

Then screw Oneiric. I already did.

Fixed on Precise currently. I'm gonna have to agree with Sergey. If we have to pick one to take a hit, Oneiric is not as important. We're targeting Precise.

That said, the implementation is slightly hack-y, and I would rather have a more solid fix land targeting Precise than a semi-hacky one for both.

But the branch is there (and has been for a few weeks) for anyone who'd like to test it out and look at my changes.

Okay, looks like this bug is back in Precise with the latest build, but only behind the "Applications" menu.
