A picture is worth a thousand words: http://imagebin.org/194678

It appears that the background behind indicators does not have the same amount of opacity as the panel itself does.

It seems that this problem only happens on oneiric, and, if we solve it,
there will be a problem on precise. So, I don't know what we can do,
because we can't have this fixed in both precise and oneiric.

Then screw Oneiric. I already did.

Fixed on Precise currently. I'm gonna have to agree with Sergey. If we have to pick one to take a hit, Oneiric is not as important. We're targeting Precise.

For what it's worth, my branch fixes this: https://code.launchpad.net/~aroman/wingpanel/gtk3-transparency-fixes

That said, the implementation is slightly hack-y, and I would rather have a more solid fix land targeting Precise than a semi-hacky one for both.

But the branch is there (and has been for a few weeks) for anyone who'd like to test it out and look at my changes.

Okay, looks like this bug is back in Precise with the latest build, but only behind the "Applications" menu.
