Bug Description

Binary package hint: smart-notifier

smart-notifier restarts dbus in its postinst script. This causes all sorts of havoc, as dbus isn't meant to be restarted during a running session. HAL complains about power management, rhythmbox suddenly starts playiing, network-manager pops up, etc.

smart-notifier should not restart dbus.

  * debian/smart-notifier.postinst: no need to restart dbus daemon anymore
    (LP: #91432).

With smart-notifier 0.28-2 from lucid I see the dbus restart on postinst (resulting in my desktop session getting terminated). I'm happy to confirm that with smart-notifier 0.28-2ubuntu1 from lucid-proposed this no longer happens and it installs cleanly.
