This bug was fixed in the package software-center - 5.1.1.1

---------------
software-center (5.1.1.1) precise; urgency=low

  * setup.py:
    - list sc.backend.oneconfhandler and sc.backend.reviews as packages
      this allows s-c to startup on the development release (LP: #887392)

You must choose more complete titles for bug so that it might avoid possible duplicates. Why not use software-center completely instead of that s-c?

no fix here as of yet. Ubuntu software center was working just fine until I read the thread at Ubuntu Forums where some beta testers were reporting Software Center Problems. I then updated through synaptic and now my Software Center is disabled. Is this a waiting game for because of high traffic on the repos?

Hi Dale, the version with the fix is 5.1.1.1. You can check if it has reached your repositories by doing the following at the command line:

  $ sudo apt-get update
  $ apt-cache policy software-center

This will show you if version 5.1.1.1 is available to install (note that the previous version 5.1.1 is the version with this bug).

Then, just type the following to update to software-center 5.1.1.1, and it should start up fine after that.

  $ sudo apt-get install software-center

If 5.1.1.1 has not yet reached your repos/mirrors, just wait a bit more and it will (I see it myself now).

Let us know if you have any further trouble. Thanks!
