Bug Description

With Ubuntu 11.10 freshly installed I encountered a really bad example of "unusability":

Click the icons on the top right one like the calendar, the system icon (where shutdown, etc. is in) or the battery icon, whatever. A drop-down menu will appear as you'd expect - but once you let go with the mouse button the menu is gone again.
Now, while this already annoys me a lot as it was different in Ubuntu 11.04 it might just be a (bad!) change. You have to hold down the mouse button to stay in the menu.

BUT. Once you begin your "menu travelling" in an applications menu on the left side of the screen - like Nautilus "File" menu, the menu stays after releasing the button - AND you can now move the mouse cursor to the right part of the menu, to the calendar, the system icon, all the icons I talked about before and: the menu stays as I would expect in the first place!!

This is a major flaw in usability! Please, please, please fix this soon!!!

I have to add something very important that I just found out!

I have a dual monitor set-up and BOTH displays show the menu bar. But my described behavior is only there on my main screen where the Unity launcher is! On my secondary monitor I can click the menu once and it stays there!!!

Must be an issue with dual monitors!

I have the same problem, so does these users in Ubuntu Forums:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1864366

Additional info:
I have an ATI Graphic card and dual monitors (TV via HDMI). The menus always stays on my second monitor, and if I hold one menu open and move the mouse to the first monitor, the menus on th first monitor stays.

On my first monitor, the menus disappears if I let go of the mouse button.
BUT, if i release the mouse button over a grey, in-active menu choice, the menu stays, and I can move the mouse to another indicator menu. For instance, I have a wired Network, so the Wired Network menu alternative is grayed out. If I release the mouse button there, the menu stays, and I can move the mouse to the Sound Indicator. Also, if I go to a sub-menu (for instance more networks), the menu stays.

And I recently installed 11.04 on a laptop with a single monitor, and didn't have any indicator problems.
