Bug Description

Since the update of today, nautilus reproducely crashes with the following message (when run from terminal):

(nautilus:2710): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.nautilus.extensions.ubuntuone' is not installed

(nautilus:2710): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: g_settings_get_key_info: assertion `settings->priv->schema != NULL' failed

(nautilus:2710): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_variant_get_type: assertion `value != NULL' failed

(nautilus:2710): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_variant_type_is_subtype_of: assertion `g_variant_type_check (type)' failed

(nautilus:2710): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_variant_get_boolean: assertion `g_variant_is_of_type (value, G_VARIANT_TYPE_BOOLEAN)' failed
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
--
It always happens on specific folders e.g. Documents, Downloads but nor for others. But for Downloads for example it is possible to jump directly into a subfolder of it without nautilus crashing.

This hasn't been an issue before the updates today, pls let me know if you need more information.

is repeatable

just Cntrl-a to select all files in a Nautilus folder, copy Cntrl-c, and hit Cntrl-t to open up a new tab - then crash !!!

I have just installed a fresh install of the 10-03-2011 daily build on my laptop. I have noticed as a workaround that I can go into the Ubuntu One settings and disable File Sync and navigating into the various folders no longer crashes nautilus.

The bug does seem to be linked to the Ubuntu One file sync service. Nautilus works fine when the service is disabled, but the minute the service starts working the segfaults start.

Having the same issue here on two installations.

If both nautilus-open-terminal and ubuntuone-client-gnome are installed then nautilus crashes. Removing one of them makes nautilus work again.

I did however have to remove and re-install to fix, simply upgrading did not seem to work for me.

Sorry, update on my previous comment.

Have rebooted and problem still exists when performing a number of actions in Nautilus i.e. selecting a folder, selecting a file, copying or pasting a document etc. Nautilus is pretty much unusable for any normal work.

Removing ubuntuone-client-gnome - 2.0.1-0ubuntu1 resolves the problem, Nautilus is stable with no crashes.

Removing nautilus-open-terminal fixed it for me. None of the Ubuntu One client stuff above helped for me, but removing nautilus-open-terminal definitely did. Nautilus now opens, and it seems to open slightly quicker.

With nautilus-open-terminal installed, if I launched nautilus from terminal, I would get a number of segmentation faults, and nautilus would either not open, or it would open then close after browsing a few folders.

After reading a comment above about removing nautilus-open-terminal, the terminal now can just open nautilus with absolutely no error messages and I have Ubuntu One file syncing just fine.

this issue still exists for me, crashes after browsing 1 or 2 folders usually. I have fully removed ubuntu one and nautilus-open-terminal, my system is fully updated.

i get

Initializing nautilus-gdu extension

(nautilus:4142): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_action_set_visible: assertion `GTK_IS_ACTION (action)' failed

(nautilus:4142): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_action_set_visible: assertion `GTK_IS_ACTION (action)' failed

(nautilus:4142): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_value_get_object: assertion `G_VALUE_HOLDS_OBJECT (value)' failed

along with a bunch of other stuff (attached)
anything i can do to help this issue along?

This issue is fixed. If you are experiencing a crash, please file a new bug with the information collected by apport when the crash occurs. If apport does not pop up, look in /var/crash for a file with nautilus and your user ID in the filename, and run "ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_usr_bin_nautilus.1000.crash" for example. Thanks.
