Are you sure that this has been fixed? I have updated to latest compiz / unity since yesterday, but it happened again today...

The strange thing is that there is no pattern with this bug. It just restarts X with no apparent reason.

Can anybody confirm that this is fixed?

If it's been fixed, I'm pretty sure the update hasn't made it to the repositories yet. Fully updated here when I experienced the bug.

The strange behavior continues. I have a fully updated Ubuntu 11.10 here, and Compiz/Unity keeps on restarting with no apparent pattern.

A while ago, I was editing a document in LibreOffice - in the background Firefox was running with just three tabs.

I opened gnome-calculator via Alt+f2 to do a simple multiplication (24 x 3600). When I typed the number 24, Compiz just restarted, and I lost my work in LibreOffice.

The strange thing is that Ubuntu did not understand the crash. I just logged in again. No bug report was offered to me...

@Dimitris, that probably had to do with the recent update disabling apport.

Doesn't look like it's fixed yet (unity 4.24.0 -- see below.)

It happens consistently when I try to open a log in gnome-system-log. Backtrace attached.
