Bug Description

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

On bug #80545 it was reported that /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree-unpackdir was breaking FHS. The fix commited for that bug changed /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree* to /var/cache/flashplugin-nonfree*. This fix actually creates a new bug that also breaks FHS.

The only dir that should have been moved to /var was flashplugin-nonfree-unpackdir. The flashplugin-nonfree directory should have stayed in /usr/lib as it's a binary package that is architecture dependent.

I confirm this bug to be present on Edgy Eft and Feisty Fawn.

Also, all programs that use flash point to library /var/cache/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so .

Meyer reported it on Debian Bug Tracking System. The bug as fixed by Bart Martens and the package can be found in Debian unstable repository.

Please update repositories for Dapper-backports, Edgy-backports and Feisty.

I initally marked this as a duplicate of 80545 because the issue is really the install path and what it uses. Yes, I am aware this is a new bug that the old one fixed, however, I realize that now. Unmarking and reopening Bug #80545.
