Bug Description

Binary package hint: clamav

After install, clamav is not running:

$ ps -AF|grep clam
clamav 7093 1 0 1413 368 0 Feb12 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/freshclam -d --quiet
kitterma 12446 3501 0 721 744 0 09:18 pts/4 00:00:00 grep clam

Looking into this further, there is no clamav-daemon start/stop script in etc/init.d. I checked the dpkg log and dpkg claims clamav was fully installed.

Clam AV not functioning on 0.90 update in feisty. Seems to have internal log permission errors. ClamTK fails to find the ClamAV virus definitions as well rendering it useless. freshcalm and other related programs inherit the permission problems.

But the clamav-daemon script comes from the clamav-daemon package. Is that fully installed?

Yes apt reports that clamav-base is already installed when I try to install it again. It appears to me that something is wrong with the install because the init script isn't there at all.

clamav-daemon does install clamd and it runs.
