Just to keep things up to date. I have a new ubuntu 11.0 install and the date insert is as described above: no date appear, just a couple of spaces. Thank you for commitment @seb128 :)

I've uploaded gedit 3.2.3 to oneiric-proposed which fixes this. It's a good SRU candidate because it comes free with some other fixes in 3.2.3 (like bug 863773) and it's a regression in functionality.

Hello Koichi, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gedit into oneiric-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

I tried gedit 3.2.3-0ubuntu0.1.
First, I couldn't add date and time, but it was fixed when I did following things:

1. Open "Edit" > "Preference" > "Plugins" > "Insert Date/Time" > "Preferences"
2. Select "Prompt for a format" or "Use the selected format" to overwrite settings.
3. Click "Close"

The proposed version fixed the date and time insert function for me.
Instead of 2 spaces "Mon 05 Dec 2011 04:37:35 PM CET " was inserted which is the expected result.
