Bug Description

Following on from bug #741253 for Ubuntu 11.04.

Subtle adjustments that follow in line with the previous two releases, as quoted below:

'I have made subtle changes and introduced new light refractions. We can continue to add light streams and re-balance with each release - the landscape becomes gently lighter and brighter and gains in complexity to reflect our drive towards 12.04 :)

IMHO as we move towards becoming more of a 'household' platform and with the great changes coming with Unity (launcher/dash) general users will get reassurance from the familiarity of the wallpaper and will also identify with it as part of our personality in new screenshots.

We need to get this included for UI freeze and from what I can make out this image is also smaller in size than the previous version so we gain some disk space.'

Otto, can we have the actual PNG file, too? In the Jpeg there’s obvious banding, which I cannot unsee.

Tobias: I'll see if I can tweet the "smoothing_factor" directly in the headers to see if that gets rid of the banding if I can't get the raw image from Otto (sorry, I forgot to ask today).

Otto: Actually, I'm thinking of releasing an 'ubuntu-wallpapers-high-quality' add-on in response to requests, so it would be good to have the original for this too.

Just to document, this was discussed on IRC (#ubuntu-release) on Sept. 1. Since it won't affect the screenshots, was approved. Thei #ubuntu-doc channel was notified as well around the same time.

Paul, what's the status of this? The Ubuntu Desktop Guide has several screenshots that have at least part of the wallpaper in the background so we really need the new wallpaper within the next week.

Jeremy: pushed as-received, if I get the raw PNG we can looking at tweaking the compression. The community wallpapers also need whittling down from 40 to ~15 too and can be pushed subsequently.
