Bug Description

amd64/desktop 20070201.1 (herd-3 canditate CD); 'check' boots into the live sytem instead of checking the CD. The same mode works fine on the corresponding powerpc CD.

Confirming it for Herd3 amd64 live, which is identical to 20070201.2 (in vmware)

There is a bug about a herd3 candidates' alternate cd checking that leads to crash, maybe these two are related.

Tollef, one thing that's worth noting is that if casper-md5check goes wrong somewhere, then casper will just merrily keep on booting rather than panicking or similar. This suggests that (a) one of the exit()s in casper-md5check is happening, (b) the integrity-check wrapper script needs to be fixed.

This was basically bug 131209, fixed in casper 1.104; it happened if the usplash theme didn't support the current resolution. I'll also fix the integrity-check script as I suggested above before closing this bug, though.

casper (1.106) gutsy; urgency=low

  * Support preseed/early_command; code supplied here will be run using 'sh
-c' from casper-bottom, and can chroot to /root if needed (LP: #144845).
  * Make sure we don't accidentally continue to boot if casper-md5check
    fails (LP: #82856).
  * Clear out debconf database backup files after preseeding to save memory
    (LP: #43706).
  * Mount everything as noatime to avoid unnecessary metadata writes.
