    - guest item in user menu (LP: #827909)
    - user menu shows all users with active sessions (LP: #827932)
    - Use ellipsis consistently in the indicator-session strings (LP: #621339)
    - ftbfs with gcc-4.6 -Werror (LP: #793105)

Reopening. lightdm's unity theme still shows "[Invalid UTF-8]" with this version.

Also, the theme shouldn't have the session indicator in the first place, but that's a separate issue.

That's because the greeter in oneiric was not setting the flag, fixed with that upload:
unity-greeter (0.0.2-0ubuntu3) oneiric; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/update_to_trunk.patch:
    - backport the 3 commits which went to the vcs since the current version
    - Setup indicators to run in greeter mode (lp: #811853)

status: Triaged → Fix Released

After today's update to add the indicator for single-user systems, I'm seeing the same issue on a logged-in unity desktop.

This bug also affects me. I upgraded today from Ubuntu 11.04 to Ubuntu 11.10, and the username shows on the top bar as

[Invalid UTF-8]

I also see it after upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10, with indicator-session 0.3.7.1 and unity-greeter 0.1.1.
