Bug Description

After following the instructions on how to install (then clicking the install button below the software image), the Emuselect link produces a not-found response in Ubuntu Software Center.

Workaround:

Following the guidelines here (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668875) I input this into the terminal:

$ apt-cache search emuselect
emuselect - Launcher for Emulator/ROMs

I then installed it via the command line:

$ sudo apt-get install emuselect

Testing revealed no difference between this installation and the DEB from the project homepage.

upon further testing, this does not affect Xboard. This also leads me to believe it is an isolated bug, individual to Emuselect.

It is obviously available also for amd64 (it is architecture independent actually).

Probably it is the bug in Software Center that it does not support the refresh command
from apturl.
Manually running sudo apt-get update should workaround this.

Changed in getdeb.net:
status: New → Invalid

I've tried running sudo apt-get update after adding the getdeb repository. I then tried clicking the link on the playdeb website again and it showed the same result. Only manual installation through sudo apt-get install emuselect does the job. If I were able to see the apt url it sends to the software center I may be able to debug this further.

You need to enable the PlayDeb repository:
http://www.playdeb.net/updates#how_to_install

The URL is:
apt:emuselect?refresh=yes

Checked software sources in the software center and the getdeb source was indeed marked. I then tried the link apt:emuselect?refresh=yes and it provided the correct page in the software center.

Just to be sure, I retried the link on the playdeb page. Results showed the correct page.

I've done nothing to change any of the software center settings, nor have I changed any sources since submitting the initial bug report. I'm not sure why the bug is no longer presenting itself but, since it is no longer repeatable, I have no choice except to write this off as a fluke.

Thanks for your help, Christoph.
