nvidia-common in debian is different than nvidia-common in ubuntu

Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-common

I'm not sure of the proper resolution here, but nvidia-kernel-common in debian was renamed to nvidia-common and ended up getting synced to Oneiric because it had a higher version number than ours. Ubuntu's package is completely different than the one that was synced. Can we blacklist it from syncing or should we rename ours even though it's had this name for years?

<micahg> can we just do 20110426+1+really0.2.x instead of an epoch? that way if we manage to consolidate in the future, it's easier to reconcile

I've already blacklisted nvidia-common for syncing. I definitely think we should keep the same package name - plenty of other stuff depends on it (including update-manager, which is how I discovered this problem)

So all that remains is for someone to reupload the original code with a new version number.

This bug was fixed in the package nvidia-common - 1:0.2.30+1

  * Add epoch to override the sync. The packages in Debian and Ubuntu
    have the same name but different code and scope (LP: #792576).
