Bug Description

I have symlinked the music folder in my home folder to another harddrive partition. This results in the player not finding any music when it scans my home folder.

In the middle of where my library would display i have the "Beatbox cannot seem to find your music" dialogue alongside the import folder selection button. However neither the cancel scan or import selection buttons work. Preferences menu (and all inside the menu that contains preferences) responds but does not help situation. Application does not crash so no bug reports.

Essentially i have a nice looking JPeg on my screen of beatbox. Picture is Attached

How long did you wait? It could working, there are just a lot of files to go through. It counts all files before it displays any progress. Have you tried setting the music folder to the actual folder, not the sym link? What happens then?

I waited 30 minutes, i will give it an hour. I cannot change the music folder because it doesn't let me interact with any buttons.

I even tried changing its settings in gconf-editor.

"Importing music from /home/crucias. This may take awhile"

"Get some tunes"
"Beatbox can't seem to find your music"
"Set Music Folder"
"Select your music folder and build your library"

Thats what it displays on the screen The cancel, set music are both null click events. In preferences the option to change my music is greyed out.

I found the problem. Beatbox does not have permission to scan music. Terminal document attached.

I am running it with "sudo beatbox > sudo-beatbox-terminal.txt" command right now and will post the results. However i could set my music folder and it seems to be happy but there are some errors in the terminal screen.

So far it displays...

crucias@Crucias-PC:~$ sudo beatbox > sudo-beatbox-terminal.txt

Ok i the sudo command worked. It imported the music, asked me to trash that it couldn't read (thankfully ignore works!) and played mp3 and aac files gleefully. It's already more useful than rhythmbox and songbird now!

However...

When i close the app, it does not remember my settings and we're back to square one again.

It *should* definitely remember your settings. Even if you closed with ctrl+c. Do you maybe have permission problems with saving to the db as well? Also, where are your music files that make you need root access? Doesn't seem right.

My music is //media/sda5/My\ Music

No other program needs sudo access to work (Songbird, Rhythmbox, Clementine, Banshee)

The problem seems unrelated to beatbox

Changed in beat-box:

Also, import is not automatic on start anymore so problem solved.
