Bug Description

When I call 'gksudo <whatever>' in a shell, it executes <whatever> properly, but
always segfaults at the end. This cannot be reproduced on other people's
machines, but it reliably happens at my box, so maybe it's a powerpc specific
problem.

I don't like crashing root-privileged programs, so I will look into it.

On attempting to login to my ASUS PC Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS on a 500 g Seagate I was blocked for 4 hours. 350.3 g og 483.7 g used. The OS would not open files, all of which were marked as erring in 910 Karmic Ubuntu. Finally I discovered Hs_err_pid7819.log which pitti apparently identifies as this Bug, allegedly fixed.

How's this a new Bug? Neither files generated in one partition for Windows XP nor Karmic 910 ubuntu nor those I attempt to open with Ubuntu 14.04.1. My password allows me to login in but Ubuntu 14.04.1; Libre Office; Shotwell, and other applications will open files respectively.

I has only been since saving this error file "Hs_err_pid7819.log" to a thumb drive and hand carried it to a separate PC that I can call attention to a bug allegedly tied to the error file Hs_err_pid7819.log.

Being this means I cannot run 1) my Mirus PC due to the new Bug 1511158 as package mysql-server-5.6 5.6.27-0ubuntu1 has failed to install/upgrade, nor 2) my ASUS PC clone due to this error file Hs_err_pid7819.log, nor 30 my ACER laptop whose battery is dead.

I pray it's feasible to learn what work around may be used to unfreeze all the many personally created files contaminated amid the 350.3 g og 483.7 g on the HD in this ASUS PC. For me, the

Kindly advise how to proceed as I cannot kill something left of an unknown Ubuntu Studio, which boots up first off, then converts to and identifies as Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS. I surely like to get some OS to open so I can backup / save each file in the 350.3 g og 483.7 g where this log shows up -- Hs_err_pid7819.log

I know this is not a forum but kindly accept the fact I'm 76 and have no one to help me understand how to teeter out a meaningful way to backup/save and ultimately reinstall Ubuntu 14.04.7 or whatever's available.
