Delete key does not delete mail

Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Pressing the delete key does not delete the selected mail. Selected messages should be deleted if the delete key is pressed. The key works normally when composing a message.

$ apt-cache policy thunderbird

Using the function key with delete works. So this may be a mapping issue with MacBook Pros.

Also present in maverick, the difference being that the function key has no effect:

Same (or similar) problem here on an HP laptop. The larger problem is that keyboard controls don't work at all on Thunderbird, but the delete operation is the one that I use most frequently. Arrow and tab navigation do not work either though. Opening a message in a new tab seems to correct the problem in some cases.

Hello Lars,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2011 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 765855

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
