I linked the bug to a branch including gettext.

I'm learning launchpad yet, so if it's not the right way to do, let me know.

I'm looking into how to use launchpad for translations.

Translations are allowed, we just haven't set them up yet. What exactly does your code do? As far as I can tell it just imports the gettext library?
