ModemManager does nothing after Plugin-load

Bug Description

Binary package hint: modemmanager

I used the modemmanager package and recompiled this for armel. When i start modemmanager in debug mode, that's the output:

I have the same problem with latest git (8f223f45f9e0c81fc9267b830c7c05b9aa731f2a) on my pc (i386, debian squeeze, debian-dir from ubuntu repos).

i tried both. with and without started network-manager. But i think it doesn't matter. modemmanager can run without networkmanager.

Is MM behaving differently on i386 or amd64 if you recompile it the same way you did? I expect it's probably not doing anything on purpose if there are no devices to add (e.g. if the udev rules aren't installed) and nothing on the bus requests a connection.

i tried again on i386 and an N900 modem and MM works correct.
Maybe something changed between old and new version because i used an RS232 modem on atmel_usart port and that worked correct with the old version but the new MM version does not detect the modem.
The udev rules for the atmel usart can be found in src/77-mm-platform-serial-whitelist.rules .

I think this would be fixed by the platform device VID/PID checks removed in commit http://cgit.freedesktop.org/ModemManager/ModemManager/commit/?id=92e4127c7dc3726e0bdb4beea64246bd7c420d9f ; so let's backport this patch along with a few other useful ones.
