lool, have you noticed any misbehaviors associated with these errors? Such as perhaps rendering corruption, odd screen blankings, performance lags, etc.?

If not and the primary issue is just the spewage into the log, in poking through the code I see other instances where upstream has had to quell its warnings (e.g. commit 0ad6d6e1). I could do similarly in this case, if you think that would suffice?

Of the patches we carry in Launchpad for -intel, there's a couple 101_copy-fb.patch 102-disable-page-flipping-v2.patch which could be worth ruling out before sending this bug report upstream. (102 in particular looks relevant) Would you mind testing disabling these patches?

I've had various misbehaviors with our current stack, it's a bit hard to tell whether it's related to any; it seems it's just a warning though.

Yeah it would be hard to pinpoint. Well, in any case the warning should
be made to not fill the log, especially not if the system seems
otherwise usable.

This bug was fixed in the package xserver-xorg-video-intel - 2:2.14.0-1ubuntu9

---------------
xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.14.0-1ubuntu9) natty; urgency=low

  * Add 115_quell_vblank_counter_failed.patch: Don't fill up Xorg.0.log
    with "get vblank counter failed: Invalid argument" warnings. 5 is
    enough.

I'm getting completely lock ups frequently in Natty and also seeing this in my Xorg.log file. Any chance the lockups are related to this?
