Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
a unresolved problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
An unresolved dependency in acpid,acpi-
Reinstalled acpid.No help.
Gnome suggests that i send a copy of /var/log/
Nor do I find /dist-upgrade in /var/log/ files at all.
Not much help in that dept.
Basically,I had to reinstall xorg after upgrade to edgy from dapper.
Once I got into edgy,it reported dependency problems in terminal as such:
Setting up acpid (1.0.4-5ubuntu4) ...
* Loading ACPI modules... [ ok ]
* Starting ACPI services... acpid: can't open /proc/acpi/event: Device or resource busy
invoke-rc.d: initscript acpid, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing acpid (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of acpi-support:
acpi-support depends on acpid (>= 1.0.4-1ubuntu4); however:
Package acpid is not configured yet.
dpkg: error processing acpi-support (--configure):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
acpid
acpi-support
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Sorry I can't give more.If I can get into /var/log/
I tried debconf & apt-get dist-upgrade,
Maybe I'll uninstall acpi-support and let you know what happens.
Regards, Scott
This seems to be an error in the acpid package. Please stop the acpi service before you upgrade and try again: sudo /etc/init.d/acpid stop
