Bug Description

Binary package hint: qemu-kvm

qemu-kvm on natty (based on 0.13.0) has a bug which has been reported on the upstream mailing list. Running memtest86 fails - choosing it from the grub menu simply gives a blank screen for a second then proceeds with regular boot.

The upstream mailing list thread is at http://www.spinics.net/lists/kvm/msg47235.html

(Waiting for the mailing list thread to come to a concrete decision about how to fix it)

I pulled a proposed patch from the m-l and put it in https://code.launchpad.net/~serge-hallyn/ubuntu/natty/qemu-kvm/memtest/. The resulting package qemu-kvm_0.13.0+noroms-0ubuntu11 is building in ppa:serge-hallyn/virt.

This appears to be fixed in v0.14.0, which we'll be merging into natty during alpha3.
