Could you provide a bit more detail on the crash?

What version of ubuntu were you trying to install?
System specs?
Where in the install process did the system hang?

Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. While we appreciate the difficulties you are facing, it would appear that the CD image (ISO file) you downloaded could be corrupt. There is an easy way to verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you download. Could you please visit https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM follow the instructions and report back as to whether or not the MD5SUM verified? Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to install on old IBM A30p. Windows Professional 2000 no longer
works (\WINNT\System32\DRIVERS\pci.sys error message). So I thought
LinuxMint may work.

I've managed to boot and run install again and took a photo of the error
message - please see attached.

Tried Mint 12 RC, both 32bit and 64 bit.

Ubiquity hangs at "Preparing to install Linux Mint", so I could install neither of the versions.
