I get the same error when attempting to install on Natty. It seems to be missing another dependency as well:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 lmms : Depends: libwine-unstable but it is not installable
 lmms : Depends: wine-bin but it is not installable

Please remove the wine-bin dependency! There's no need for it as LMMS already depends on wine1.2. Furthermore I suggest splitting out the VST support layer into "lmms-vst" package as done with my LMMS packages at https://launchpad.net/~tobydox/+archive/lmms

This bug was fixed in the package lmms - 0.4.10-1ubuntu2

---------------
lmms (0.4.10-1ubuntu2) natty; urgency=low

  * Replace obsolete wine-bin dependency with wine1.2 (LP: #696189).

I don't think it's fixed. I use wine 1.3 and I don't want to downgrade. This package should be split to parts with wine dependency and without wine dependency. like Tobias Doerffel said. Or at least make it compatable with other wine versions.

Yes, I got the same problem. It's not fixed, because the dependency of wine1.2 doesn't solve anything. It should depend on wine version >= 1.2 otherwise you cannot use lmms together with a working wine (wine 1.2 is lightyears away from being "funtional" in my opinion. wine 1.3.19 was the first working one in my hands, the use of wine 1.2 doesn't make sense anymore I'd say).

Is this a bug or is this an intentional dependency? If it's intentional, both stable and unstable Wine incarnations should be supported. Also, the installation process for LMMS should prompt the user regarding Wine - allowing the user to opt out of whichever feature it is that somehow requires it. I really hope this is a bug though, because LMMS should not depend upon any foreign component.

Same dependency problem on Oneiric. I have Wine installed and can't install lmms because it depends on wine1.2, whereas I have wine1.3 installed.
