This bug was fixed in the package liferea - 1.6.4-1ubuntu3

---------------
liferea (1.6.4-1ubuntu3) natty; urgency=low

  * debian/control: Add libindicate-gtk-dev to Build-Depends so indicator
    support gets built properly. (LP: #689710)

I'm using 1.6.4-1ubuntu3 under Unity (netbook remix) and the problem doesn't seem to be fixed.
