Bug Description

Hi there,

I am not sure why, but it seems my panflute panel applet doesn't get updated with mpd't status... I am using the latest mpd (0.16 from ppa) and the latest panflute (0.7.0 from ppa).
When I start mpd (I am doing this manually as user after computer booted up) the music starts to play, but panflute says Not Playing... When I change to the next song using panflute it works, and the song title is updated. Still, the time (even if set to elapsed or remaining) does not get updated during playback... it's stuck on either 0:0 or like 4:05 (if song is 4:05 long).
If i now kill mpd (mpd --kill command) mpd gets killed but the panflute applet still shows the song information that mpd was playing before it was killed.
If I start mpd again the song starts playing but I can't do anything with panflute. Nothing updates, track info is stuck on status before I killed mpd, changing volume doesn't do anything either. It seems like it's stuck...
the only way to make it work is to restart my comp...
I couldn't find any info on this, that is why I am submitting this as a bug... not sure what the problem is, any help would be appreciated as I love panflute and mpd (and gmpc of course).

thanks a lot!
Jambo

I forgot to mention that i am using ubuntu 10.10.

Also, it seems like it's now working, I have done the following:

change back to mpd version 0.15.10 for maverick.
run mpd as service insted of from command line after login
change user to "myusername" in mpd config file.

It seems like this is now ok, I will try to upgrade to the latest version of mpd and see if it works ok.

Ok, I just checked and I can confirm that as soon as I update mpd to "0.16~alpha3+git20101108.46ab8d1-0ubuntu1~ripps1" it starts happening again.

So this seems like a bug in mpd not in panflute.

Hope this helps anybody who has a similar problem.

Peace!

Closing this bug since it seems to be a bug in an unreleased build of MPD. If it shows up in a released version of MPD, feel free to reopen it, and I'll see if there's some workaround that can be added to Panflute.

Changed in panflute:
