hello
from #42 of bug 97306
I had the same problem a few minutes ago, booting karmic daily from usb.
Disabling floppy in bios solves the problem (with my mainboard).
Can you verify disabling floppy boot from your bios ?
Thanks
Fabio

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. While we appreciate the difficulties you are facing, it would appear that the CD image (ISO file) you downloaded could be corrupt. There is an easy way to verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you download. Could you please visit https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM follow the instructions and report back as to whether or not the MD5SUM verified? Thanks in advance.

I can confirm this issue is now occuring in the 11.04 Alpha 3 alternate CD, I have disabled my FDD controller in the BIOS (MB is a Biostar A880G+ in case it helps), the debian-installer partition utility never starts because it keeps trying to mount /dev/fd0 (which shouldn't even exist).
