Shifting back to triaged, seeing as the patch still hasn't been committed yet.

This is the same way with me but with my NWZ-E344 Walkman.

Same problem here using a Sony Walkman NWZ A818. The device is recognized correctly in mtp mode by the system and it works fine with Rhythmbox, but simply doesn't appear in Banshee 2.2 from Ubuntu 11.10 (and previous versions of course).
Let me know if you need further information.

Just checking - do you still get the bugs if you add an ".is_audio_player" file to the root folder of the device, with the contents:

audio_folders=MUSIC/
video_folders=VIDEO/
podcast_folders=PODCASTS/
folder_depth=2
output_formats=audio/mpeg,audio/x-aac,audio/x-ms-wma,video/mpeg,video/mp4

This sorted out my X series in Banshee.

In that case we should include this information into the media-player-info project so that the device can work without needing the .is_audio_player file. See http://ernstfamily.ch/jonathan/2010/10/help-me-make-your-music-player-or-phone-recognized-as-such-under-linux/ for more information.

It works also on Walkman NWZ-A818, though in mass storage mode, not in mtp like Rhythmbox. It shouldn't be a problem.

Leuke, for your NWZ-A818 I need the product ID and a list of supported formats.

Thanks!

As far as I know, the list of supported formats is identical to NWZ-S545, however according to the official website, NWZ-A818 supports audio mp3, aac, wmp and wma; video mpeg4, avc(h.264); playlist .pla, .m3u, etc
Standard folders are /MUSIC, /VIDEO.
