Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

According to the changelog.gz:

ubuntu-docs (6.10.2) edgy; urgency=low

  * Adding translations for all documents

However, the documentation still appears in English in my Spanish desktop. This include the Desktop Guide and the Server Guide, among others.

Oh, great :) I believed that to have a close release date could be problematic for that.

Matthew, it seems there's a problem in the Yelp's main page. It appears "New to Ubuntu?" and "¿Nuevo en Ubuntu?", which are the same. It appears the same document, both untranslated and translated. The original English link "New to Ubuntu?" must be removed

When you hover over the untranslated entry, what file does it point to?

It points to

/usr/share/gnome/help/about-ubuntu/es_ES/about-ubuntu.xml

which doesn't exists. Moreover, the directory "es_ES" doesn't exists into /usr/share/gnome/help/about-ubuntu.

When I click on the untranslated entry, I get the following error message (in Spanish):

"No se pudo cargar el documento

El Identificador Uniforme de Recurso «file:///usr/share/gnome/help/about-ubuntu/es_ES/about-ubuntu.xml» es inválido o no apunta a un archivo real."

In English, more or less:

"Can't load the document.

The URI «file:///usr/share/gnome/help/about-ubuntu/es_ES/about-ubuntu.xml» is invalid or does not point to a real file."

Gotcha. I've committed a fix to our repo. Thanks!

I can see there's some untranslated entries yet in the Yelp's main page:

"Getting More Help Online
If you didn't find the information you needed here, you can get help in the online Ubuntu community."

"Contributing to Ubuntu
Ubuntu is a community-driven project, and we always need more contributors. Learn about all the ways that you can help."

"Packaging new applications for Ubuntu
Learn how to package programs so that they can easily be included in Ubuntu and other Debian based distributions."

However, all these entries are perfectly translated into Spanish in the corresponding Rosetta templates.

Please, can you update the ubuntu-docs packages in order to get the latest translations from Rosetta, and put these updated translations into the following 6.10.4 upload?

Thank you very much!

Hi,

With the exception of "Contributing to Ubuntu", these were due to a bug
which I've now fixed, and should be working fine after Daniel's upload.
The Contributing document was uploaded to Rosetta extremely late, and
won't be translated for the release (see the translators mailing list) -
but keep translating it and we will upload it after the release.

Matthew, 6.10.4 is now in the repos. I've installed it, but it still have some untranslated strings that are translated in Rosetta.

The strings are in the Desktop Guide, into the "Connecting to the Internet" section. That section appears almost completely untranslated, as you can see in the screenshot. However, if you look at Rosetta:

https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/edgy/+source/ubuntu-docs/+pots/desktopguide/es/+translate?start=314

you can see that the strings are translated since weeks ago.

I believe Daniel has taken an outdated translation for the 6.10.4 upload.

No, certainly not. The translations in the 6.10.4 upload have not changed
since the 6.10.3 upload. They were downloaded probably about 2 weeks ago.
It is likely that they were not translated at that time.

You will have to wait until a translation update is prepared.
