caravena@ubuntu:~$ su
Password:
root@ubuntu:/home/caravena # apt-get install idesk
[...]

Configurando idesk (0.7.3-2) ...

root@ubuntu:/home/caravena # exit
caravena@ubuntu:~$ idesk
Cannot load file: /home/caravena/.ideskrc!!
Loaded default file: /usr/share/idesk/dot.ideskrc
Error: you have to create the .idesktop dir on your HOME!!
caravena@ubuntu:~$ touch .idesktop
caravena@ubuntu:~$ idesk
Error: you have to create the .idesktop dir on your HOME!!

You should create a directory, not a file.
