Hmm, after uploading those patches I see that cheetah fails quite badly on Python 2.7.

Ok, I updated the diffs with the pyversions change. Cheetah will not be built for 2.7 until upstream supports it, as some rather deep changes are necessary.

Attached branch merges upstream 2.4.3 with Python 2.7 compatibility patch from Fedora project. All Python 2.6 and 2.7 tests pass.

Attaching debdiff, but see merge proposal for preferred review of package changes.

With the 2.4.3 upload I'm in the process of updating this merge to incorporate the debian changes on top of Barry's 2.4.3

Now that python-support with 2.7 has landed, I've requested a rebuild of python-cheetah 2.4.3. The builds look like they are succeeding. Is there anything else we need to do with this bug?

yes we need to merge the debian changes, which was the actual focus of this bug, not the upstream version or python 2.7 compatability. ;)

I'll push up a new merge proposal shortly for that.

Barry, could you review the remaining merge request there?

Barry's merge proposal is marked as 'merged'. What does this mean for Clint's merge and this bug? Can they both be 'closed'?

Clint Byrum (clint-fewbar) wrote :

Barry's merge was uploaded, but does not close the bug, because it did not merge the debian changes from 2.4.2.1-1

So my MP is still awaiting review/upload.

I reviewed it and approved it. It's just waiting for someone with upload rights to commit the change.

hmm, that didnt go so well:

Rejected:
cheetah_2.4.2.1-1ubuntu1.dsc: Version older than that in the archive. 2.4.2.1-1ubuntu1 <= 2.4.3-0ubuntu1

any idea why this bug is still open ? can we close it if 2.4.3 is in the archive ?

My suggestion would be to close this bug (with an updated subject), open a new one and submit a new merge proposal linked to that new bug.

I'm closing this on Barry's recommendation. Bug 680946 has been filed about the remaining packaging changes.
