Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I just opened the Ubuntu One preferences and tried to create a new SSO. I'd forgotten I already had an account with that email address. The account creation process failed (not unreasonably) and I was presented with the account creation dialogue with a red exclamation mark next to both email addresses but no explanation was displayed as to the reason for the rejection.

I was left looking at a screen with no way forward until it occurred to me to try the using the email address at the login prompt then pressing the forgotten password link.

I realise there is a security issue here and it's not a good idea to reveal that an account exists but anyone who knew the platform would know that a rejection of the email address without explanation was caused by an already existing account so I think a meaningful error message would be a good idea here.

Thanks.

This is a know issue (see bug #634593) and was already fixed on new releases. I'm closing this as invalid since this bug belongs to other project.

Thanks for the report!

Sorry, the last comment was meant to go into bug #659388.

Regarding this bug, if you put the mouse pointer on top of the red exclamation mark, you will get the description of the error.
Since this is presented this way by a design decision, I'm closing the bug as Invalid.

Thanks for your report!
