Ok, according to your current settings, you should be able to get input from the rear microphone jack. If you connect your microphone to the rear jack, and try to use it, you don't get audio correct. If you connect your microphone to the front jack, and change the audio settings to the other microphone option, and try to use it, you still don't hear anything, correct?

According to the program code, your hardware should be properly supported. Does your microphone work in Windows? Does the microphone have its own volume control of any kind? If so, you might want to check that it is turned on/turned up.

Please double check your settings. If you still don't get audio, plesae report back, so I can suggest other things to try.

I cannot record in Audacity or Sound Recorder with mic or with line in. It has worked off and on in the past I do not know why. The mic works in windows, my rig is dual boot.
