Bug Description

Binary package hint: gcalctool

gcalctool 5.28.2 (Lucid)

I think it might be a good idea when gcalctool is in "Basic" view to make pressing the 'x' key register as a 'times' equation.

Thanks.

The reason this doesn't work is you may want to enter a more complex calculation in basic mode (e.g. x=5). All the modes behave the same for consistency. Is there a case where it may be hard to enter '*' or you have observed anyone expecting 'x' to work?

Hi Robert,
Thanks for the response. I think your point is very much a valid one. The
only case I can report is my own. Normally I use * but for some reason I
tried 'x', brain freeze it would seem. With your explanation in mind and in
noting the behaviour of other calculators like Windows Calculator at this
point I am happy to havethe bug closed.

Thanks.
